Statement on the Passage of the Federal Funding Bill

WASHINGTON, DC -- Service Employees International Union (SEIU) President Aprl Verrett issued the following statement following Senate's 11th hour passage of the Continuing Resolution (CR) to avert a government shutdown:

"Working people - regardless of race, occupation or political affiliation – want a government that works for us in good and bad times. It's a relief that we won’t have to experience the turmoil of another government shutdown during the holidays. However, enough is enough. Our next Congress must stop kicking the can, allowing billionaires like Elon Musk to derail our legislative process and pass a federal spending bill that reflects our nation’s true priorities by creating more good union jobs, ensuring more people have access to affordable healthcare and protecting immigrant families."
