Jane Hopkins, a registered nurse and executive vice president from SEIU Healthcare 1199NW, was chosen by President Elect Joe Biden and Vice President Elect Kamala Harris to serve on their National COVID-19 Advisory Board. Hopkins, who for the past 12 years has worked at Harborview Medical Center and Snoqualmie Hospital in Washington, will be tasked with helping the incoming President and Vice President develop an aggressive plan to contain the virus until vaccines become widely available later in 2021.
Hopkins is an immigrant from Sierra Leone, and has been an active member in both her union and the Black Lives Matter movement, having received the Black Lives Matter Award from the SEIU Washington State AFRAM Caucus.
