SEIU’s Rocio Saenz on Donald Trump’s Immigration Policy Speech: Trump Obsessed With 'Us' vs. 'Them' Bigotry

WASHINGTON, DC – In response to Donald Trump’s immigration policy speech in Arizona, SEIU Executive Vice President Rocio Saenz issued the following statement:

“This speech changed nothing for Donald Trump. What we heard tonight was nothing new. Just more of the same hateful and divisive speech aimed at creating an ‘Us’ vs ‘Them’ divide in our country. We heard it all – the same anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, anti-Latino and anti-family rhetoric he has been spouting on the campaign trail for more than a year.

With his comments tonight and with past statements, Trump has already defined himself as a racist who is unfit to be president. He may seem to change policy positions daily, but Trump can’t change who he is.

Immigrants are everywhere in America. We are child care workers, construction workers, home care workers, janitors and workers in all professions. We won’t stand for hate. We are determined and we are united. With our numbers, with our families coming out, we will send a strong, clear message that hate must not win.”
