Fast for Families" React to President Obama's Remarks on Immigration Reform"

WASHINGTON, DC - Just minutes ago from San Francisco, President Barack Obama spoke on the crucial need to pass comprehensive immigration reform with a path to citizenship. On their 14th day of fasting, SEIU's Eliseo Medina, NAKASEC's Dae Joong Yoon and DREAMer Cristian Avila, joined by others fasting in solidarity at the "Fast for Families" tent on the National Mall, watched the President's speech.

The president said to the fasters, "We hear you. The whole country is with you."

In response to President Obama's speech, the fasters have issued the following statement:

"We hear you, President Obama. And we thank you. Your words have strengthened our spirit and fueled our perseverance. We are more determined than ever before to continue fasting and praying to ensure that our call for immigration reform and citizenship is heard. It's time Speaker Boehner and the House of Representatives address America's moral crisis--a dysfunctional immigration system that has continuously undermined the integrity of our national values and the unity of our families. It's time for commonsense immigration reform."
