Senator Sanders, Rep. Schakowsky Target Corporate Tax Loopholes

WASHINGTON, DC - After Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Jan Schakowsky introduced the Corporate Tax Fairness Act" in the Senate and House respectively, Mary Kay Henry, President of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), issued the following statement:

"In the midst of the current budget debate, these bills are a welcome addition to the discussion over how we raise revenue, restore fairness to our tax code and create good jobs in the U.S. Too many corporations are taking advantage of tax loopholes that allow them to keep trillions of dollars overseas without paying taxes they owe. These loopholes have cost millions of jobs and enabled corporations to avoid paying their fair share. It's about time they are closed.

"We need to invest in jobs here at home, not protect tax giveaways for corporations that keep their assets overseas to avoid paying taxes."
