SEIU HQ Receives Platinum Certification

WASHINGTON, DC - The Service Employees International Union (SEIU)
headquarters building in Washington, DC recently received the LEED
EB:O&M v2009 Platinum" certificate from the United States Green
Building Council's (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental
Design (LEED) program. SEIU is one of only six buildings in
Washington, DC to have received the Platinum certification for v2009
Existing Buildings. Platinum certification is the highest level a
building can achieve within the LEED program.

"From the beginning, we envisioned our headquarters to be a green
building that incorporates commonsense approaches to conserving energy
and yet remains on the cutting edge of green building technology,"
said SEIU President Mary Kay Henry. "We are honored to accept this
Platinum certification from USGBC."

LEED is an innovative, voluntary program that comprehensively verifies
the quality of the approaches that green buildings take to address
energy conservation and environmental stewardship.
