Exposed: Rep. Brian Bilbray's Record of Shredding the Medicare Safety Net
Sacramento, CA - California members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) today launched a new television ad in the state's close race for the 52nd Congressional District.
The $650,000 ad, which will air in the San Diego broadcast market, educates voters to Congressman Brian Bilbray extremist and out-of-touch record in Congress when it comes to the Medicare safety net. Instead of focusing on creating jobs, Congressman Bilbray focused on delivering more tax giveaways and cuts to millionaires and big oil. Congressman Bilbray paid for these by voting to end Medicare as we know it, costing seniors an additional $6,400 per year.
"There is only so much time in the day so it says a lot about Rep. Bilbray's priorities when he decides to spend his time helping millionaires and super-rich oil companies get more tax breaks while also voting to end the Medicare that San Diego's seniors rely on," said SEIU Local 221 President David Garcias. "Instead of waging a war on our families, we need someone who will prioritize jobs and move California forward. Scott Peters will be that leader in Congress."
"Brian Billbray's misplaced priorities continue to put the ultra-wealthy and corporations ahead of middle class families," said Seth Johnson, AFSCME Assistant Political Director. "The choice is clear, hardworking San Diegans deserve better. They deserve a leader who will rebuild the middle class, protect our seniors and move this country forward. San Diego needs a leader like Scott Peters."

ANNCR: What if I told you Brian Bilbray was a lobbyist who went to Congress and gave tax breaks to big oil?
And that Bilbray wants to end the Medicare guarantee...and put your healthcare at the mercy of the insurance industry?
What if I told you Bilbray puts the special interests ahead of you....
...cutting your Medicare...to give tax breaks to millionaires?
Costing you an extra sixty four hundred dollars a year...while the rich get richer...on your dime?
What if I told you this was business as usual for Congressman Bilbray? Would you vote for him?
