Nation's Most Diverse Labor Union Backing Major CBC Events, including the National Voting Rights Town Hall and Forum on Black Women in Politics

Scheduled Events for Participation Include "The Evolutions of Politics & Empowerment," Town Hall Where SEIU Will Detail Its Political Program for Voter Education and Mobilization

Washington, D.C.-- The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) will participate in Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's Annual Legislative Conference events Thursday and Friday to help raise awareness of issues affecting working people, including widespread voter suppression tactics.

Executive Vice President Gerry Hudson will give closing remarks that the "National Town Hall: Voting Rights and New Age Discrimination" and SEIU National Political Director Brandon Davis will lay-out current work to re-elect President Obama and rebuild the infrastructure needed to drive policies for working people and communities of color in 2013 and beyond.

SEIU's participation and sponsorship of the events are part of the union's commitment to protect the rights of all Americans to vote and to fight against threats to the fundamental right to vote in any form--especially as working families experience relentless attacks by politicians trying to disenfranchise voters through waves of legislative proposals that suppress the voices of African Americans, Latinos, the youth, senior citizens and women.
