National and local groups unite in Miami, Orlando, and Tampa to engage Latino voters

ORLANDO, FL - The odos a Votar! nationwide Latino voter education tour makes its next stop in Florida, a battleground state with the third largest population of Latinos. National and local Latino advocacy groups involved in the nonpartisan campaign aim to register and mobilize thousands of Florida Latinos--over 1.5 million are expected to vote in the state.

The tour first launched in California and continued its stops in Nevada and Arizona, with Colorado and Texas next on the schedule. National organizations participating in the campaign are Mi Familia Vota (MFV), National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), Service Employees International Union (SEIU), National Association of Latino Elected Officials (NALEO), Center for Community Change (CCC), Presente.org, Voto Latino, Labor Council for Latin American Advancement (LCLAA) and the Hispanic Federation. The groups have united their efforts to register 650,000 new Latino voters and mobilize 12 million Latino voters across the country on Election Day, November 6.

The Latino voter public education campaign will start off in Florida with a Twitter Town Hall at 6 pm EST on Thursday, Aug. 23. Latino voter and youth leaders will chat online about the tour, voter registration and more. The hastag is #voto12.
