NLRB Member Implicated in Ethics Scandal Should Resign, Congress Investigate
WASHINGTON, DC - Service Employees International Union (SEIU) International President Mary Kay Henry issued the following statement following reports of unethical conduct by National Labor Relations Board member Terence Flynn:
Findings by the NLRB Inspector General that Board member Terence Flynn systematically funneled confidential information to individuals actively engaged in discrediting the Board are inexcusable and his reported conduct undercuts the Board's mission to protect workers' rights.
"Further, Congressman Cummings and Senator Harkin are right to call for a full and immediate investigation. In an era of extraordinary attacks on worker's rights, working people cannot afford to have an insider for big business operating within an independent federal agency charged with protecting workers' rights.
"Terence Flynn broke the public trust and failed to honor his oath as a public official. He should resign immediately. Further, the Justice Department must review these allegations and file charges if violations are found."
