A Victory for Working Families in Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District

Washington, D.C. - The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) International President Mary Kay Henry joined SEIU Pennsylvania State Council President Gabe Morgan, SEIU Healthcare Pennsylvania President Neal Bisno and SEIU Local 668 President Kathy Jellison in issuing the following statement on yesterday's victory by Representative Mark Critz in the Democratic primary in Pennsylvania's 12th Congresssional District:

Yesterday's results send a clear message as we move toward the November elections: the people of Pennsylvania want candidates in office who will fight for working families and the middle class.

"Mark Critz never wavered in his support of working families and voters responded. He has a clear history of leadership in policies to create good jobs, an economy where everyone pays their fair share, investing in healthcare and public infrastructure and ensuring all workers receive a fair shot at the American Dream. His support never wavered and voters responded.

"Over the past several weeks, SEIU members have mobilized, hit the pavement, and spent countless hours talking to voters about the issues facing their communities. We will stay in the streets and on the phones to make sure workers have a voice this November and that they exercise their choice to sends Congressman Critz and other candidates fighting for the 99 percent to Washington."

SEIU's Efforts in PA-12

As a part of SEIU's independent expenditure campaign, members worked with community and labor partners to put together a voter contact operation that put more than a hundred SEIU member volunteers on the ground to talk with their family, friends and neighbors about how Congressman Critz is standing with working families. This was supported by a targeted direct mail campaign.
