WASHINGTON, DC - Service Employees International Union (SEIU) International President Mary Kay Henry issued the following statement after Senator Tom Harkin introduced the Rebuild America Act" this morning:

"On behalf of SEIU's 2.1 million members, I would like to thank Senator Harkin for his continued leadership on the issues that matter most to the people who do the real work in this country - the 99%.

"Senator Harkin has put forward a detailed roadmap for how we can build an economy that works for everyone. This bill addresses the challenges that American families struggle with every day - how to pay the bills, how to balance work and family, how to ensure that their kids get a quality education and how to save enough money for retirement.

"We are facing a critical moment right now. We have to make a choice about what kind of country we want to be and what kind of economy we want to have. In the past, we have seen leaders who care about working families propose bold action. That's the kind of leadership that this bill provides.
