On the Heels of a Nevada GOP Ad Aimed at Suppressing the Latino Vote, New CA Ad Makes Case for Why They Must Vote Pro Brown

Ad Shows Latinos Have Too Much at Stake in this Election

LOS ANGELES - With less than two weeks to Election Day, Cambiando California, the Independent Expenditure Campaign led by the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) California announces today its newest television ad, "Buenos Empleos" which highlights that Latinos have too much at stake in this election.

"The Latino community has worked hard for too long to be left behind in this election. We are not going to allow Republican operatives throughout the country to shut out our voices when our jobs and our families' futures are at stake," says Eliseo Medina, SEIU International Secretary-Treasurer and the highest-ranking Latino labor leader in the country. "The Latino vote will make the difference in this election and now that Republicans understand the importance of our vote, they are showing us that they will stop at nothing to suppress it. We are not going to be like Meg Whitman, who squandered her vote for 28 years. We study the issues, we know who stands with us and we will vote on November 2nd," he concluded.

The television ad "Buenos Empleos" constitutes the third installment of Cambiando California's campaign aimed at encouraging Latino voters to support Jerry Brown, noting that the next Governor's values will determine what types of decisions they will make for the state, decisions that will open or close doors for working families.

"We have a clear choice between working people's values and Wall Street values. Meg Whitman has shown us that her priority is to give herself and the rich tax breaks while leaving all other working families behind," says Mike Garcia, President of SEIU United Service Workers West. "Jerry Brown on the other hand has fought for working families his entire career and he created 1.9 million jobs while he was Governor. There is no reason why we should stay home. Latinos can't stay home and won't stay home in this election," he concluded.

Cambiando California's campaign is the most comprehensive Latino Independent Expenditure Campaign in history, reaching Latino voters through television, radio, internet advertising, mailers, and a robust field organizing campaign that will drive Latino voters to the polls in support of Jerry Brown this November. Cambiando California addresses the issues that are most important to the Latino electorate: jobs, the economy and education.

Cambiando California's television ad "Buenos Empleos"/ "Good Jobs" is a part of a multi-million dollar media buy and will air on Spanish language television stations Telemundo, Univision, Estrella TV and KWHY in Los Angeles, Fresno, Monterey-Salinas, Bakersfield, and Sacramento media markets.
