SEIU Statement on Scott Brown's Failure to Provide Health Coverage for Campaign Staff
Boston - SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger released the following statement after news reports on Talking Points Memo and the Boston Globe that Republican candidate Scott Brown fails to provide health insurance for his own campaign staff.
"If Scott Brown won't even provide health coverage for the 20-year-olds working day and night on his campaign, why would he help Bay State families? Scott Brown cares more about doing the bidding of his extremist right-wing Tea Party and Wall Street backers then the men and women who wake up and go to work to keep America running every day. We need a proven champion like Martha Coakley who will, like Ted Kennedy, put Massachusetts' interests first."
With 2.2 million members in Canada, the United States and Puerto Rico, SEIU is the fastest-growing union in the Americas. Focused on uniting workers in healthcare, public services and property services, SEIU members are winning better wages, healthcare and more secure jobs for our communities, while uniting their strength with their counterparts around the world to help ensure that workers--not just corporations and CEOs--benefit from today's global economy.
