SEIU Ad: As Senator, Coakley Will Deliver Results For Massachusetts Families

Boston, MA - Today, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) launched an independent expenditure radio ad highlighting Attorney General Martha Coakley's record to improve the lives of working families across the Commonwealth. The ad, titled Responsibility," will air throughout the Boston area through election day on December 8th.

"As a U.S. Senator, Martha Coakley will continue to do what Bay State families have come to expect from her; work tirelessly to represent the hard working men and women of Massachusetts," said SEIU Secretary-Treasurer Anna Burger. "The healthcare workers, social workers, security guards, janitors and other members of SEIU are proud to be involved in a massive volunteer effort to share her record on controlling the cost of healthcare, cracking down on subprime mortgages and ensuring fiscal responsibly with our neighbors because she has the values and leadership we need in Washington."

Coakley, a long-time proponent for workers rights and strict enforcer of wage and hour laws, won SEIU's endorsement in October through a member-driven process that included a candidate forum attended by hundreds of members from across the state. The SEIU Massachusetts State Council represents more than 60,000 workers and their families from SEIU Locals 1199, 615, 509, 888 and the Committee of Interns and Residents.

The ad, produced by The New Media Firm, can be heard at: http://www.seiu.org/videos/R503x64ResponsibilityFINALRadio60.mp3

The transcript follows:

"Responsibility" - 60 seconds

When we elect our next U.S. Senator this Tuesday, we expect them to get things done. Real things that make a difference.

Martha Coakley takes that responsibility seriously. As Attorney General, she cracked down on subprime mortgage lenders and recovered more than six hundred million dollars in taxpayer money related to the Big Dig. She protected consumers from unfair and deceptive trade practices by big health insurers. And she led efforts to make sure President Obama's economic recovery money goes to creating jobs and improving the economy for working families in our state, not the special interests.

As our next Senator, Martha Coakley will work to get results in Washington. Results that matter, like reducing healthcare costs and improving access, turning our economy around, investing in green energy to create jobs, and passing tougher Wall Street regulations.

Vote Tuesday, December 8th for Martha Coakley for U.S. Senate. Getting things done when results matter.
