United States District Court Issues Temporary Restraining Order Against NUHW and Former Leaders of SEIU UHW

Court orders information and property belonging to SEIU UHW members to be returned

OAKLAND, CA-Today, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California issued a temporary restraining order (TRO") against the former leaders of SEIU UHW and their new union, NUHW. The TRO orders the return of all information, files and other property belonging to SEIU UHW. Among its findings, the Court concluded that "materials were taken or hidden by individual defendants or by their confederates. For example, some grievance files and collective bargaining files were plainly taken away from some locations by dissidents. UHW needs the materials back to run the union and to protect its members."

The Court's order will enable SEIU UHW's trustees to work with members to process grievances and bargain contracts, and thereby protect the jobs, wages, benefits and retirement security of SEIU UHW members.
