SEIU And Health Care to Play Prominent Role Tonight at Mile High Stadium
SEIU Health Care Worker Pauline Beck and Road to Health Care Bus Stand In Stark Contrast to McCain Advisor's Position t
Denver, CO-Tonight, as Barack Obama makes history by accepting the nomination for President of the United States, the urgent need to fix our broken health care system will play a prominent role both inside and outside of Mile High Stadium.Inside the stadium, SEIU home care worker Pauline Beck - who addressed the Democratic Convention Tuesday night about the day last summer when Senator Obama "walked a day in her shoes"- will have a front row seat with other VIPs.
Outside the stadium, SEIU members will greet the tens of thousands of people arriving to hear Obama's speech at the "Road to American Health Care"bus, which the Obama campaign invited to have parked directly at the public entrance to the stadium.
The prominence of both is just another exampled of the commitment that Barack Obama and Joe Biden are again demonstrating their commitment to fixing health care and restoring the American Dream for millions of working families - a commitment which stands in stark contrast to Senator McCain's positions.
Just yesterday, the Dallas Morning News reported that John Goodman - who helped craft John McCain's health care proposals - said that there is no such thing as "the uninsured"in America, because people without coverage can just go to the emergency room. "So, there you have it. Voila! Problem solved,"said Goodman.
"Just like George Bush, John McCain is completely out of touch with the millions of middle class Americans who are just trying to keep their heads above water,"said SEIU Secretary Treasurer Anna Burger. "Saying ERs are the solution to the health care crisis is like saying that homeless shelters are the solution to the mortgage crisis.
"We need a president who understands the challenges facing American families, a president who is committed to helping to restore the American Dream with a stronger economy, good jobs, and quality affordable health care,"Burger continued. "Tonight, America will get to hear from the man who will be that President - Barack Obama.""
