SEIU Steps Up Advocacy for Obama In March 4 Primary States

WASHINGTON, D.C.-Members of the Service Employees International Union (SEIU) are escalating their campaign activities for Sen. Barack Obama's presidential bid with a week to go before the pivotal March 4 primaries.

"We continue to step up our efforts to inform voters and members why Sen. Obama is the best candidate to bring about the change America so desperately needs,"said Anna Burger, SEIU Secretary-Treasurer.

In Ohio, Texas, and Rhode Island, thousands of SEIU members are going door-to-door, making phone calls, distributing worksite fliers, and helping to get out the early vote. SEIU members also have introduced Obama at rallies in both states (http://www.walkadayinmyshoes2008.com/lorraine-bradleys-reaction/), as part of an overall campaign to elect the candidate they think will bring fundamental change to working families in America.

SEIU members also unveiled three new television spots in both Texas and Ohio. The ads focus on Obama's unique ability to change Washington to bring about fundamental reform. SEIU members and other voters are featured in the ads talking about the problems Americans face and their support for Obama's plans to confront them.

In the Ohio ad, Brady Maxwell, a Gulf War veteran, says, "Barack Obama is going to stand up to the insurance companies and the pharmaceutical companies to make health care affordable."
