John Geagan Scholarships
The John Geagan Scholarship is in honor of SEIU’s long-time organizing director during the 1970s and 1980s and is for applicants who want to purse a college degree in labor studies. The scholarship is for $5,000 to be expended over a 24-month period ($2,500 a year). This scholarship can be used in any labor studies program where college credit is awarded. This includes four-year and two-year institutions, labor studies centers, certificate and online programs—as long as college credit will be earned toward a bachelor’s or associate degree in labor studies.
» Eligibility Criteria:
The John Geagan Scholarship is open to SEIU members or their children or SEIU local union staff; priority will be given to those applicants who are not served by traditional education institutions— typically adults who have been in the workforce and have decided to go, or return to, college. This scholarship allows students to pursue a degree while continuing to work.
